Panda Flowers is a Fair Trade flower farm based in Naivasha, Kenya. It is the founding company based in the Flower Business Park, where over 5000 native Kenyans find employment—a pretty big deal in a country with a 40% unemployment rate.

Panda has been internationally recognized for the quality of their flowers and their dedication to the principles of Fair Trade. They subscribe to 6 different Fair Trade labels, each with their own strict guidelines on everything from maternity leave to base pay. Also, their flowers have been awarded “Best of Class” at the international HortiFair in Holland, beating out all other farms in Kenya.

The Fair Trade premium money (8-12% of the FOB value of the flowers) goes to a fund that is entirely managed by the workers at Panda. Almost all of the premium money ends up allocated to various projects and charities that benefit the local communities that the workers themselves reside in. For more info, visit What is Fair Trade?.
